The word "doctor" conjures up image of a white-coated figure with a stethoscope dangling around his neck, rushing towards some or the other room. He is our medical man who is responsible for keeping us in the pink of our health.
But wait. Before you draw any premature conclusion about this post, I don't hail from a medical background and My background and medical background are chalk and cheese to each other.
So what's this post all about? Interesting question. I will answer it. Read along
It's about the dire financial crisis that is looming large worldwide. It bears semblance to the epidemic outbreak of smallpox in the mid 60's (pardon my facts, I may hv misrepresented). A lot of people suffered, though being stoic by nature, didn't let their anguish or grief come through, esp investors. One such investor, who got his fingers burnt in that inferno was me. Why? Why as to why people are driven by greed and avarice? I should have got rid off those "upwardly-moving" stocks at the opportune moment before they plunged to abysmal depths, defying all laws of gravity and now do not show any signs of regaining their lost ground and glory. A paltry 10 k may not seem to bring you in a jaw-dropping state or position. But for me it held as much worth as 10*10000 INR would hv held. News of Lehman Brothers going bankrupt spread like wild-fire. People at the helm of big institutions swung into action and somehow succeded in getting a whopping US $700 bn to bail-out the ailing Dow Jones. But nobody came to our rescue. Pounded with hammers made of woes and affliction, we sat beside ourselves, helpless and inert, did nothing expect letting out expletives at Uncle Sam. What else we could have done and we were justified in doing that ( that's what we said to ourselves, but honestly they were responsible for this mess). Probably this is the phase when our economy is going under the knife, probably these untoward happenings are a sign of better things to come, probably this is a test of an individual's resilience and patience. Afterall The Darkest Hour is Just before the Dawn. xoxo
